Description
Enjoy a plaited brioche-type "Striezel" loaf in no time with this tasty mix! The popular bread is often enjoyed with tea or coffee and is a hit with the whole family. The mix is easy enough to use that people of all ages can enjoy it!
Fresh ingredients needed (classic):
- 2 eggs
- 315 ml milk
- 80 g butter
Required fresh ingredients (vegan):
- 300 ml oat milk
- 80 g vegetable fat
Striezel preparation:
- Place the sugar-marigold mixture in a separate bowl.
- Vegan version: Gently heat the oat drink (see the milk line) and 80 g of vegetable fat in a saucepan until the fat dissolves. Let cool down to lukewarm.
- Classic version: Gently heat the milk (see the milk line) and 80 g butter in a saucepan until the butter dissolves. Let cool until lukewarm and stir in an egg. Stir for 2 minutes.
- Add the lukewarm milk mixture to the baking mix and knead well for approx. 4 minutes (you can use a mixer if you like)
- Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 30-60 minutes
- Knead the dough again, shape it into the shape you prefer and cover it. Let it rise for another 20 minutes in a warm place.
- Preheat the oven (electric: 190 ° C).
- If you are making small rolls, cut the dough into balls.
- Vegan version: brush with water
- Classic version: brush with an egg wash (mix 4 tbsp milk & 1 egg yolk).
- Sprinkle the loaf with the sugar and flower petal mixture.
- Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, remove from the baking sheet and let cool for 10 minutes.
Tips:
- The longer the dough rests, the better it will rise. It should rise up to twice its height.
- Wrapped in cling film, packed in a lunch box or in a freezer bag, the pastries stay fresh for a few days.
